This genuine Andy Rouse Engineering Ford Mondeo Supertourer enjoyed a varied international competition career, competing in Europe, the United Kingdom and North America before spending almost three decades in storage.

Originally constructed by Andy Rouse Engineering during 1994, the car was built for Wolf Racing and campaigned in the 1994 ADAC Tourenwagen Cup by Klaus Panchyrz. Midway through the 1995 season it returned to Britain, where it was run by Foesport in the British Touring Car Championship for Robb Gravett.

In 1996 the Mondeo crossed the Atlantic after being purchased by Seattle-based Berle Smith, who entered the car in the North American Touring Car Championship under the Fastech Group Racing banner. During the 1996 and 1997 seasons it was driven by Paul Charsley, Victor Gonzalez Jr and David Welch before being retired from competition and placed into long-term storage at the conclusion of the 1997 season.

Nearly thirty years later, High Performance Classics travelled to Seattle to inspect, document and oversee the recovery of the car. Following a comprehensive inspection, the Mondeo was carefully packed alongside an extensive collection of original spares before beginning its journey back to the United Kingdom.

The inspection confirmed the car to be an exceptionally honest and largely unmolested example. The engine turns freely, the magnesium Xtrac gearbox casing is in excellent condition, and the car has benefited from a number of genuine period Rouse updates, including later 1995 specification suspension, front subframe, aerodynamic components and the later dry-sump Xtrac gearbox installation.

The accompanying spares package was equally impressive, comprising fourteen period race wheels, numerous gearbox ratios and dog rings, steering racks, suspension components, body panels, team equipment and many difficult-to-source original competition parts accumulated throughout its racing career.

Today the Mondeo has returned to the United Kingdom, where it will undergo recommissioning before once again taking its place on the historic racing grid, where it belongs, —a fitting next chapter for a car that spent almost thirty years waiting for a second life.
